Introducing trading updates, our latest innovation

The Nutmeg team

If you have a fully managed or socially responsible portfolio, your pot is proactively managed by our investment team. But what does the team actually do with your investments? Our new trading updates feature will tell you, in the mobile app, what trades the team has made and why.

News moves fast and so do financial markets. A general election, an escalation in the “trade war” between the US and China, or a surprise development concerning Brexit can all affect markets and alter the value of your investments.

One of the features of our fully managed and socially responsible portfolios is that they are managed daily by our investment team. Our experts regularly make strategic adjustments to customer portfolios in anticipation of or in response to news to try to smooth out our customers’ investment journeys.

We’ve always sought to show you what our investment team are up to, for instance in our monthly investor update, our recently launched mid-month investor check-in, and in regular blog posts. But now we are going a step further by launching in-app trading updates.

How trading updates work

If you use our Android app, you’ll start to see trading updates appear on the app’s home screen. If the investment team has made an important decision relating to one of your portfolios, we’ll let you know what they’ve done and why.

Perhaps the team think the prospect of a no-deal Brexit has become more likely, so they’ve reduced holdings of small and medium-sized UK-listed equities. Maybe they’ve increased your allocation to US-listed assets because they think the American economy is poised for economic growth.

We know not everyone has the time to read our in-depth blog posts or watch our videos in full. With trading updates, you’ll always be kept up to date, even when you’re on the go.

How we generated the idea for trading updates

We’re always looking for ways to improve our customers’ experience, which is why we recently completed an idea generating exercise called Ideation Day. During this exercise, three teams were tasked with developing an idea to answer a specific customer need. The idea for trading updates was judged the best in an online vote by all our employees – and our teams worked hard to build the feature in a week.

Risk warning

As with all investing, your capital is at risk. The value of your portfolio with Nutmeg can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest. Forecasts are not a reliable indicator of future performance.
