Job: Pension support representative
Describe your role: I’m part of the customer support team, liaising with our pension administrator and providing customers with updates on their pension transfers.
Products I own: Pension and ISA
Preferred style: Socially responsible
Why this style? I think, if a business is managed well, it’s likely that it will perform well and therefore my investment will yield good returns. We see so many stories in the press about poorly treated employees or irresponsible decisions made by big corporations – it makes sense to try to avoid these pitfalls where possible.
Preferred risk level: 10.
Investment goal(s): Mostly for retirement. When I was younger I thought having enough to live on once I am no longer working was a problem I could worry about later. Now I know how I will set myself up for the future and I’m making steps towards it. I also have an ISA which I intend to use to study again in the next 5-10 years. Besides that I have some money set aside to help family with any rainy days.
Attitude to risk: My investment pots are intended for the long term, so I’m happy to risk short-term losses for the potential of long-term higher returns. The markets have seen some sharp falls and increased volatility recently, which can be unsettling to watch and that emotional response shouldn’t be brushed under the carpet. When setting up my pots I chose an investment style and risk level, so the investment team can manage asset mixes across a diverse range of investment types in line with my goals. That means I don’t have to watch the markets or tinker with my asset allocation. I benefit from their experience and don’t have all my eggs in one basket.

What’s good about Nutmeg? The people! Nutmeg has sought out a diverse group of intelligent, experienced and dynamic employees, and then empowered them to build and service the products. That’s helped us win awards – as well as the love of our customers. I’ve never worked somewhere in which the requests and requirements of the customer are held in such high regard.
What could be improved: I’d like to see more functionality on the app. This is something we’re working on and new features are being released all the time.
Would you recommend Nutmeg to friends and family? Yes, I have recommended Nutmeg to friends who are looking for a managed investment product. Once they see the dashboards and how easy it is to navigate, they’re often interested in signing up to try it for themselves. Even my landlord is a customer! If you’re an investor you can earn £100 by referring a friend.
Anything else you’d like to share: I’m very happy working for Nutmeg. I have had three roles in my time here as there is a lot of opportunity to develop new skills and use your experience in a different way.

Every new joiner at Nutmeg is invited to join the company pension scheme, which is invested with Nutmeg. Employees have the option to opt-out of the pension scheme.
