Ben has been investing for more than a decade, and a Nutmeg customer since 2012. He values the transparency he gets with Nutmeg, along with the time he saves by letting us make his investment decisions for him.
Ben, a 37-year-old with his own go-to-market agency, first got into investing in his mid-20s because he wanted to do more with his money than simply put it into a savings account.
“I started exploring how I could make that money work for me.”
While he’s not investing for anything specific, Ben believes it’s important to put money aside for big or unexpected life events that may come along in the future.
As Ben is investing for the long term, he typically chooses a higher-risk investment style, which he hopes will result in higher returns, although he appreciates there is also a greater chance of loss.
When Ben first came across Nutmeg five years ago, he was surprised to discover that there weren’t other platforms offering a similar service. He felt the world was overdue solutions like Nutmeg, ones that offer a user-friendly service that most people can easily understand, with all the complicated things taken care of behind the scenes.
Ben likes the transparency he gets with Nutmeg: he can see the funds and where his money is being invested whenever he wants. In his opinion, provided one trusts a system and the funds it invests in, the transparency then provides the necessary assurance.
“If I had to explain Nutmeg to a friend I’d simply say it was just an easy way to invest money over and above what you’d get out of a standard savings account.”
Ben has now been investing for over ten years. He believes that, if he was starting again, he’d probably put more of his money into Nutmeg. In his view, the time it takes to research and buy individual stocks and shares or individual funds is not worth it.
He’d rather spend that valuable time elsewhere, and leave it to the experts at a platform like Nutmeg to make those investment decisions for him.
Risk warning: As with all investing, your capital is at risk. The value of your portfolio with Nutmeg can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest. Past or future performance indicators are not a reliable indicator of future performance.
