Chief executive officer
Martin joined Nutmeg in 2015. He has a range of experience running and jointly-running the P&Ls for a number of businesses in different categories. He joined Nutmeg from EDF Energy where he sat on the B2C Executive Team which oversaw the £3 billion highly-regulated retail business. At EDF Energy he led acquisition of new customers, customer retention, product and proposition development, digital sales and service, and all aspects of marketing. Prior to that, Martin spent seven years at Procter & Gamble, where he ran the UK Ariel franchise and took the brand to market leadership, and where he developed the launch of Oral-B toothpaste which achieved 25% market share in its first year. Martin was recognised with a Marketing Society Fellowship in 2013, and won the prestigious Marketing Society Awards for Excellence "Grand Prix" in 2015 for his work to turn-around the EDF Energy business.
Chief investment officer
Shaun joined in 2012 and is responsible for all aspects of Nutmeg's investment strategy. He is an acknowledged expert in the emerging world of digital wealth management, and in the use of ETFs. Shaun regularly discusses markets, business, consumer affairs and FinTech on the BBC, Sky News, Bloomberg and CNBC.
Shaun brings over 25 years of experience designing and managing multi-asset investment strategies for central banks, pension schemes, charities and high-net worth individuals. Before joining Nutmeg, Shaun was chief investment officer for six years at BDO Investment Management where he was in charge of the investment proposition for high-net worth and ultra-high net worth clients. Before BDO, Shaun was Senior Economist and Head of Research for Crown Agents Investment Management, part of the team managing global bond and equity portfolios for central banks, sovereign wealth funds, and public sector pension schemes.
Chief financial and operating officer
Neil joined Nutmeg in May 2017 from Secretsales.com, where he helped them achieve their exit with a sale to Wowcher. Neil, a Chartered Accountant, brings a wide range of finance, risk and management experience in online international, regulated and growth stage businesses from large corporates through to agile start-ups. Neil held European CFO and CEO roles at the sports betting platform Sportingbet Plc, and was part of the team involved in the sale of the business to William Hill. Neil also spent two years as managing director at Mylotto24 part of Zeal Networks SE.
Cristel Lee Leed
Chief marketing officer
Cristel joined Nutmeg as CMO in February 2018, bringing more than 15 years’ C-level experience leading strategic brand, marketing and customer teams for some of the most successful UK start-ups and challenger brands operating internationally, such as giffgaff, WWF-Australia, Virgin, Lulu.com and early telco disruptor, Onetel.
Before joining Nutmeg, Cristel was part of executive teams in the proptech, consumer rights and environmental advocacy sectors, and was part of the founding team of giffgaff, O2/Telefonica's digital only mobile virtual network operator.
She has lived and worked in the UK and Australia, and managed tech focused consumer brands operating in Europe and the US markets.
Chief risk and compliance officer
Darragh joined Nutmeg in 2018 and is primarily responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance and operational risk management. Darragh has over ten years of experience leading compliance functions in financial institutions.
Prior to joining Nutmeg, Darragh was Head of Compliance - EMEA & Asia for INTL FCStone Inc, a Fortune 500 financial services firm, in the City of London. Previously, Darragh was Head of Compliance & Risk for a boutique CFD firm in Dublin. Darragh holds a BA in International Business & French and a BA in Law from the Dublin Institute of Technology.
Chief technology officer
Matt joined Nutmeg in April 2018 bringing over 20 years of financial services technology experience with him. As Nutmeg's CTO, Matt ensures our technology strategy matches our business strategy. Prior to joining Nutmeg, Matt held the position of Chief Technical Officer at both Neilson Financial Services and MarketInvoice. His experience has been rounded out by 13 years at BancTec, a global top 100 financial services technology provider, where he held a number of roles, including R&D Director.
Matt holds a PhD in Software Engineering from Brunel University.
